Our tipi poles are immensely strong and easily manageable. Sourced from North Scandinavian forests, where the extremely cold temperatures slow down growth, the wood is of exceptional quality and matures later. It boasts world-class attributes and ensures the Big Hat tipi’s stability. With remarkable load-bearing strength, our giant tipi tent for sale is comfortable in windy conditions and can be erected on all types of soft and hard surfaces. All of our tipi poles are manufactured inhouse by our Woodwork department at TipiHQ – ensuring we can rely on the quality we produce.

As our tipis are geared towards commercial use, our Big Hat main canvas canvas is waterproof, weather resistant, moisture regulating, breathable, and most importantly flame retardant. Beyond the exceptional performance of our tipi fabric, the finished look creates a rustic charm that will set the scene for your guests.

When it comes to creating a large outdoor event space, we know you have lots of options. So what makes our Big Hat Tipi so special? A tipi creates a unique environment that marquees or temporary buildings simply can’t match. Topped off by our tipi tent canvas, the Big Hat Tipi is strong and sturdy, all while being highly attractive.
As the name suggests, the Big Hat Tipi is shaped like a hat with open sides towards the floor. However, you can also close the sides of this tip if you wish, creating endless flexibility for all weather conditions and events.
One single standaloneBig Hat Tipi provides year-round shelter from the elements and the largest amount of internal space, catering for up to 136 seated guests. The Big Hat can be linked together with an endless number of other Big Hats, thus becoming a space for hundreds of guests, depending on your requirements.
It’s possible to customise the Big Hat Tipi in a number of ways with tipi enhancements. You can then keep the interiors simple or go all out to create a memorable experience for your guests.
With all sides down, you will be able to accommodate 70-80 guests standing, or 88 people for casual dining.
10.4m diameter with all sides down. If you lift all of the sides of the Big Hat, this increases the dimensions to 13m diameter.
Yes – you can link Big Hat to Big Hat, or Big Hat to Midi Hat in an endless number of formations. The more Big Hats you add, the bigger the space!
The record so far is 24 Big Hats linked together in a giant cartwheel formation! This formation can accommodate around 1000 guests with a large central entertainment space in the centre.
One Big Hat on a soft-standing surface will take around 2-3hrs to build depending on the size of team you have, skill level and weather conditions.
We can’t speak for other giant hats out there, but our Big Hat Tipi has a height of 7.4m and a diameter of up to 13.2m when the sides are open. If you need even more space, then we can link our Big Hat Tipi with other tipis. Alternatively, we also sell the Little Hat Tipi if you’re in search of other size giant tipis.
There are lots of names given for giant hat tipis elsewhere, with one such name including Kata midi tipi.
However, at The Tipi Company, we keep our product names simple within our Hat range to include the Little Hat Tipi, Midi Hat Tipi and our Big Hat Tipi.
At The Tipi Company, all the poles we use to build our tipis are sourced from northern Scandinavian forests Our Forest Team select the very finest quality spruce trees, before they are transported to our TipiHQ where our Woodwork department transforms them into the strongest tipi framework available on the market. We are the only company to manufacture the full process inhouse and nothing is outsourced. In short, we only use the best materials for our main poles and canvas material.
Our Big Hat Tipis can cater to endless commercial environments, including events which need to accommodate upwards of 100 guests.
In addition, big tipis are fantastic when the need is to maximise ROI by increasing customer footfall, e.g., for temporary outdoor dining or bars.
